چکیده

Metal mining extraction and concentration need water. The recycling of liquid effluents reduces its consumption. This recycled water must contain low concentrations metals. project’s first objective was to start up a laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor for biotransforming metal sulfates into sulfides effluent from flotation units plant (FE). second determine the effect pH chemical oxygen demand:sulfate ratio (COD:SO42−) in precipitation heavy sulfides. third objective, which is subject this part research, evaluate feasibility proposal through mass balance metals separated by formation sulfate-reducing microorganisms (SRM), using as energy source carbonaceous compounds residual organic reagents enriched with lactic acid. To monitor bioconversion effectiveness, various parameters were used: pH-alkalinity factor (α), temperature (T), COD, SO42−, (S2−). Four considered research: Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe. UASB system achieved sulfate 69% an matter removal COD 88% after transient state best COD:SO42− found. Using statistical analysis clusters, sulfide production 74 mg L−1 removals 39, 70, 79, 65%, Cu Fe, respectively, obtained. These values calculated initial 0.66 ± 0.2 around 6 inside reactor, microbial biomass, indicating that solution proposed recycle feasible these systems.

Modelling of an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket reactor

A model describing both physical and biological processes in Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactors was developed. The main objective of the modelling was to take into account the transient growth of the microorganisms from the start-up of the reactor until a steady state is reached. In addition, the model considers the degradation of the substrate and its reaction with the biomass, wh...

Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (uasb) Reactor in Wastewater Treatment

Under anaerobic conditions, organic pollutants in wastewater are degraded by microbes producing methane and carbon dioxide. The degradation process is effective compared to the more conventional aerobic processes and produces only 5-10% of sludge. This saves considerably on cost associated with the sludge disposal. Among anaerobic technologies, the most popular ones is the upflow anaerobic slud...

Degradation of methanethiol by methylotrophic methanogenic archaea in a lab-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor.

In a lab-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor inoculated with granular sludge from a full-scale wastewater treatment plant treating paper mill wastewater, methanethiol (MT) was degraded at 30 degrees C to H2S, CO2, and CH4. At a hydraulic retention time of 9 h, a maximum influent concentration of 6 mM MT was applied, corresponding to a volumetric loading rate of 16.5 mmol liter-1 day-1...

Management of Atrazine Bearing Wastewater Using an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor–Adsorption System

In the present investigation, an attempt was made to develop a treatment system for the management of atrazine bearing wastewater. The system consists of an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket ~UASB! reactor followed by an adsorption column using waste activated carbon as the adsorbent. The UASB reactor could remove more than 80% of organic matter and 40–50% of atrazine, irrespective of the concent...
